Running From the Past by Ellen Jean Barrier
Running from
Your Past Will Not Guarantee Peace
Fear of
something that has happen in the past is cause for those who want to run away
from a troubling experience to believe they can escape. History can’t be
changed. We can’t go back into our past and change the wrongful acts we have
committed. But we can change our behavior, and improve our attitude toward
others.
Jacob the
Son of Isaac
Like Jacob, many others are looking for ways to escape their
past, due to an experience they would like to forget. In the case of Jacob, who
had stolen his brother’s Esau birthright; he was in fear of his brother who he
believed was going to kill him for what he had done, was running away from his
past, he left home and traveled to another geographic area
thinking he could find peace.
On his
journey, he experienced, hunger, and homelessness
In Desperation, Jacob vowed, It God will be with me, and
will give me bread to eat and raiment to put on, So that I come again to my
father’s house in peace, then shall the LORD be my God: And this stone, which I
have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me
I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
Jacob Experienced Additional Problems
Jacob’s destination was to take shelter at the home of Laban
When Jacob arrived at the home of Laban, he encountered
unfair treatment.
Laban was a liar and a cheater.
He became an employee and Son-in-law of Laban, who withheld
his wages.
His brother In-laws falsely accused him of taking away all
of Laban’s property.
Jacob
testifies against his father-in-law
Jacob
expresses his disappoint with Laban; making it known to Rachel and Leah, the two
women in his life, that the appearance of Laban’s countenance toward him had
changed, further stating, “but the God of my father hath been with me. And ye
know that with all my power I have served your father: And your father hath
deceived me, and changed my wages ten times, but God suffered him not to hurt
me.
God Gives
Jacob a Command
Return unto
the land of thy fathers and to thy kindred and I will be with thee.
Jacob
Expresses Remorse to Esau
Jacob
reached out to his brother Esau, to make peace, by sending him a message: Thy
servant Jacob says thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until
now: And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and men-servants, and women-servants:
and I have sent to tell my Lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.
When Jacob
received news that Esau was on his way to meet him with four hundred men, Jacob
was greatly afraid and distressed and prepared his people to escape an attack.
Jacob’s
Prayer
O God of my
father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which sadist unto me,
Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee: I
am not worthy of the least of all the mercies and of all the truth, which thou
hast showed unto thy servant: for my staff I passed over this Jordan, and now I
am become two hands. Deliver me, I pray thee from the hand of my brother, from
the hand of Esau for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother
with the children. And thou sadist, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot
be numbered for multitude.
Jacob Meets
Esau
Jacob bows
seven times until he comes near his brother.
And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and
kissed him: and thy wept.
Jacob said
to Esau, “I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou
was pleased with me.”
God's plan is
that we humble ourselves and correct the wrongful acts that we commit against
our sisters and brothers, so that we will receive his blessings. It is not his
will that we run from our past, when we commit a wrongful act. Rather, it is his will that we should seek a
peaceful solution with those who we have wronged. This is the only answer to finding
peace.
Jacob became
successful but was without peace
He describes
his success to Esau
“Take, I
pray thee, my blessing that I brought to thee; because, God hath done
graciously to me, and because I have enough.”

“Death is the inevitable price we must pay. Freedom is not a thing my family nor myself has ever experienced."__ Tony Elliott
Jim Elliott is a man with power, charm, wealth and good looks, who uses all these things to hurt others. Priscilla Emerson and her family must pay for his corrupt behavior.
The Price We Must Pay For Our Father’s Sins is about Jim Elliott, his wife Priscilla, and their family. This story deals with money, power, sex and violence.
Priscilla is a college graduate student of law, who graduated with a 4.0 average and dreams of successful goals. She was filled with life and excitement, until on the day she became Mrs. Jim Elliott.
She did not know that her marriage to Jim Elliott would result in a price she and her family would have to pay. Priscilla and many others were deceived by Jim Elliott’s extraordinary good looks, intelligence and charm. He was famous for showing the world a sensitive and caring man, but Priscilla soon sees the true Jim Elliott, on their wedding night. He is someone who she deeply loves, that is incapable of loving another human being. She realizes she is his prisoner and sexual slave.
Jim Elliott is a famous top expert in the field of Criminal Law, who heads the most corrupt organization in history. He has friends like himself worldwide, who kills and commit crimes without remorse. No one crosses Jim Elliott and live, he will not accept rejection. He is a man with great influence, wealth and power; can get the women he wants, to sleep with him, and do whatever he wants them to do. He and those in his organization believe in revenge, and they will get it one way or another. If it means blowing up buildings with children in them so be it. They have no sense of remorse. To them, killing is their business.
The home of Jim Elliott’s organization is on a luxurious ranch, with a large house resembling a castle in a secluded area of trees and shrubs, surrounding a lake, with lights of many colors reflecting their beauty on the water surface, as though dancing to the music being played by a large band. There are beautiful decorated tables of food, alcoholic beverages and drugs of choice. The people dance, gamble and flirt. This is the place where women dress seductively and every immoral act unimaginable is done.
Priscilla is a physical and psychological abused sexual slave in Jim Elliott’s organization, who will never be free. It is the price she and her family must pay. That price includes their two sons Josh and Tony, and her mother and father, Tom and June Emerson.
Jim Elliott taught his teenage sons the ways of his organization. When they became adults his sons hated each other, because of his influence over their life. He loved Josh because he was loyal to him, and followed in his footsteps. He hated Tony, because he disliked his corrupted behavior, and the way he treated Priscilla.
Tony made a vow to his mother, he would make his father and those in the organization pay for the crimes they committed, and the harm they did to innocent people. When he began working undercover as an informant against the organization, he was discovered.
Tony has crossed his brother Josh, and now he must face his arch enemy. Josh Elliott has placed a bounty on Tony’s head to have him killed for betraying the organization.

*Sex and Violence is the price many women and children pay daily. They are held as sex slaves in prisons of pain and fear for the money and power made from their bodies used as sacrificial offering for pleasure. This is the price they must pay for the sins of their captors.
People with
good intentions do not always meet the qualifications to handle the role they
have been given in management. Having
good intentions does not qualify a person for the job he or she has been trusted
with.
The couple
whose friend entrusted to take care of her child, had good intentions to manage
the role of being his guardians while his mother was away for a few hours did
not qualify for this position: The child died while in their care during those
few hours. The child, being a toddler, ingested a poison chemical the couple had sitting in his presence
uncapped.
When an
individual accept the role of management, he or she should have a plan in place
to protect and secure the whole team. Taking on the role of a manager with good
intentions alone, does not meet the qualifications for such position: It is
guaranteed to fail. The idea should be to move forward together, with a plan in
place to create job growth that will produce successful achievements. That can
only happen when management cares about the whole team’s protection and
security.
“People who
like their job will give it their best. Those who don't, show it by a poor
performance.”
Don’t allow
an evil attack to feed on your energy, and drain your strength, immediately shake
it off!
By not
allowing evil to hang on and make you its victim, you are using your positive
energy to focus on your most important task.
Evil can
attack in many forms to cause worry, fear and pain. The purpose of evil is to
destroy. The attacks are usually, unexpected. Evil can be hidden within things
that appear to be good; such as the Apostle Paul experienced on the Island
called Malita, after he had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on a fire
for warmth.
According to
the story, there was a venomous viper among the sticks that Paul had gathered,
and after he had laid the bundle of sticks on the fire, the viper came out of
the heat and fastened on Paul’s hand, and he shook the beast into the fire, and
felt no harm.
The people
of Malita, knew the history of this viper. According to them the symptoms were
swelling or sudden death. Paul never experienced those symptoms. Instead, he
continued to speak to the people. While he was with them, he stayed focused on
his work. He prayed for those who were sick, and for those who had diseases,
and their health was restored.
Those who
observed Paul’s health, knowing the history of the venomous viper, concluded that
Paul was a god. However, Paul was not a god. He was a Man of God, who believed
in The Power of God, over Death. He was focusing on the business God had given
him to do.
As we travel
through this life, many forms of evil will attack, some will be hidden, and
some will be visible, I strongly believe in the power of prayer. From the power
of God we receive strength. It allows him to defend us against evil, in our
times of need.
“To focus
energy on the less important things in life, hinder creating a solution to
solve those problems that are of the most importance.” ― Ellen J. Barrier
A fake
friend will betray you. They will pretend to support you while working behind
your back making efforts to hinder your progress. The fake friend hangs around
to gather information about you, to use against you. They pretend they care
with their fake hugs and kisses. It is a way for them to gain your trust. Be
aware of the fake friend’s hug and kiss approach. It is a weapon laced with the
poison of betrayal, to cause harm.
Remember
Judas, thedisciple that
was a fake friend of Jesus? He pointed him out to those who captured him, with
the kiss of betrayal. It was Judas who led Jesus enemies to him, because he
knew where he would be. Jesus was betrayed by Judas for money. The purpose was
to stop his work by killing him.
The fake
friend purpose is to gain something in return, for the cost of betrayal that
will result in harm. Jesus knew Judas was a fake friend, and that he would
betray him.
During
conversation while eating with his disciples, Jesus informed them, "Verily I say
unto you, one of you which eat with me will betray me." Later, during the meal
after having been asked several times, who would be the disciple to betray him?
He answered them, “It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.”
When Judas
approached Jesus leading a group of his enemies with weapons, his plan was to
identify him to his enemies by using the kiss. When he came near Jesus to kiss
him, Jesus said to him, “Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a Kiss?”
We can prevent
fake friends, from using our personal information against us, by not giving any
information to them. Never trust a fake friend.
The results
of poor leadership is a broken and corrupt society that exist worldwide by the
violence we see that is played out on the streets and in public places. Corrupt
leaders attract people like themselves that breed violence.
Poor
leadership has been revealed in the homes and in shelters where children are
exposed to violence. Many of these children who came from broken homes have not
found a safe haven; but instead, have been sexually abused, and targeted for
further violence against them.
Government has
failed many, because some elected officials who have been chosen to work for
all of the people to provide the needed resources in poor neighborhoods, have
not carried out their promises. And
those who created the laws of the land have not fought for the poor to be
treated equally fair. Many elected officials have broken the laws they created.
The Justice System has become weaken because of poor leadership and corruption
by certain individuals who were chosen to uphold the laws, who themselves broke
them.
Failure to
lead with honesty and respect for others, creates and atmosphere of mistrust.
Among those
who view the world through the eyes of politics and religion, we find bias and
prejudice treatment used against certain individuals. Because of such people
beliefs, they psychologically place others in classifications based on
financial status, locations, looks and popularity. They set in judgmental
positions and outcast certain individuals, who they perceive are different from
them, and have no place in society for equal justice.
From such
people come leaders in our communities, among them are judges and the jury and
those who are religious leaders, school and college leaders, law enforcement
officials and others. The laws of the land are as strong as the character of
those who are in a position to uphold them.
If justice
fails in the courtrooms, it will not prevail in society.
When people
feel they have been treated as an outcast, because of unfairness, they feel
they were cheated out of their God-given rights that all men and women were
created equal. They feel that the same laws should apply to all people. They
feel that Liberty and Justice should apply to every boy, and to every girl, and
to every man, and to every woman, regardless of financial status, location,
looks or popularity.
If a person
feel worthless by the laws of the land, they will eventually lose hope.
When hope is
gone, the reason to care is replaced with the demon of hate, leaving such
individuals with a feeling of no remorse, and the desire to destroy. In the
path of hate is death and destruction. The fury of such an evil spirit will
cause innocent people to suffer as a result of violent behavior.
The leader
who prays to God for strength to treat those who follow with fairness will make
a difference. Through prayers wisdom is obtained and knowledge is gained, and
applied with understanding to know that change comes, when every person is
adequately benefited.
A person
does not have to be religious to pray: Knowing that someone is listening who
has the power to guide you out of darkness into light, is all that is required.
I found Contentment when I prayed.
I would
rather be on the team of the leader who prays to God for wisdom to guide the
followers, than to be on the team of the leader, who leads without prayer.
I thank God
for his Love for me, and for each choice I made.
I chose Love
over hate.
I chose
forgiveness over grudges.
I chose
peace over war.
I chose
thankfulness over complaints.
I give
thanks to God for the contentment I found within me.
I now live
my life with the satisfaction of my choices.
